How well can my system perform for gaming?

RAM:16 GB, DDR3, 16 GB Max capacity
GPU:NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 730M, 4 GB, GDDR3
Hard drive:1 TB hard drive (Serial ATA, 5400 rpm) + 128 GB SSD

-How well can this perform on modern games e.g. Shogun 2/ BF3

Well the GPU in that is a re badged GT 645M so demanding games should be playable at low-medium settings with no higher resolution than 1366x768. Also your GPU memory performance is further impacted because it is using DDR3 for the VRAM instead of GDDR5. Overall older games that are less demanding might be able to be played at 1080p with high settings but games such as BF3 FC3 and such will need to have the resolution and settings lowered just to get playable frame rate.
