OK So i recently was given a few computers from an office and they all have xp professional login passwords. I just want to put a fresh install of windows ultimate on them. I have done this many times but never with this many errors. When changing the boot order and everything is done in prep i get a no boot device available error. Apparently you cant boot from usb either. I assumed it was a security function so removed the hard drive and tried just booting to live cd and get the same error. On most of the computers there is no OS install mode but one has it in bios and assume this computer has the best chance. I have read a few other threads but am gonna open this one up for some new insight.

You'll need to have unrestricted access to BIOS to begin with. Then, you need to wipe the HDDs thoroughly and only after that do a fresh install of the OS. For wiping, I usually use Killdisk, but you can use any program that suits your needs (provided you can boot from a bootable media straight into it).

I have since been able to access one of the computers since they left there admin password blank. So how would i change the restricted access in BIOS. How to you suggest wiping the HDDs "killdisk"? Can this be done while logged in as administrator on windows?

I discovered that my problem was the cd drive not reading my dvds i corrected the problem by using universal usb installer program to put the OS on flash drive and double clicked the setup.exe file in the folder then i was able to do a fresh installl from there.
