I am currently building my first computer and I have already come across my first problem. My PSU has a 20 + 4 pin connector and my motherboard has a 24 pin connector. Do I connect the 20 + 4 pins directly into the 24 pin connector or do I need to purchase another PSU with a 24 pin connector?

My motherboard is a ASUS m5a97

Solution
20+4 = 24. So yes. The reason for the 20+4 is so that the PSU can work on old motherboards that use a 20-pin power connector.
