I am currently building my first computer and I have already come across my first problem. My PSU has a 20 + 4 pin connector and my motherboard has a 24 pin connector. Do I connect the 20 + 4 pins directly into the 24 pin connector or do I need to purchase another PSU with a 24 pin connector?

My motherboard is a ASUS m5a97

Best solution

a c 131 ) Power supply
a c 168 V Motherboard

20+4 = 24. So yes. The reason for the 20+4 is so that the PSU can work on old motherboards that use a 20-pin power connector.

Thanks, just being cautious as this is my first build.

Good idea. You can also post up your build and get opinions on it. I'm sure there are many people here who can help either improve or agree with your build. Best of luck!
