F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL supports Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard

Hi,

I have Asus M5A97 R2.0 motherboard. I am thinking to buy GSKILL F3-12800CL10D-16GBXL ram . But I am confused whether the motherboard supports or not? Please help.

Specifically it is not on the supported list, but this GSkill memory is likely just a newer model. The support list is dated July of 2012. Being that this ram is nearly identical and only a hair slower, CL10 instead of CL9, I don't see how it wouldn't work. In fact I bet the ram will be detected by the Intel memory speed identification system, XMP, even though this is a AMD board. I have the slightly older R1.0 M5A99x and it has correctly identified the memory timings on OCZ, Corsair and Crucial memory, only the crucial was listed exactly. I believe Asus built the Intel XMP feature into the AMD boards because they could! The only way to know for sure is to e-mail or call Asus. I have called them before, they were very helpful!

Ok. Will email Asus . Is CL9 faster than CL10? I have the option to buy F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL. Is this supported?
