Ok, firstly i would like to say sorry if this is the wrong category for my problem.

So recently I upgraded to a CoolerMaster Elite 500w and since my gaming PC is budget it looked like a good move as it was £30. Now I can still get a refund if you suggest it.

When I am in windows and I hover over an icon for lets say a game (desktop) a very short and quiet beep occurs, through my pc, it seems like my psu, but its quite open, so it can let the cpu noises pass through. When I change my system power to 'power saving' it is fine, but i want it on high performance as it is a gaming build. Also in balaned, which i use, its still beeping on and off. In high performance its almost constant

The pc alone is barley two months old so it cant be clogged with dust, although I have a dog and its on a carpet.

Another question is, when my pc is in my room, my psu makes an electrical noise, very faintly when off but still plugged in. so i moved downstairs and its much quieter and no noise is heard when off. The kettle lead is also very old, VERY old so could it be that?

Shall I RMA the product or is it a NIC or something, and i have updated bios recently (before new psu)

SPECS:

ASUS M58l - I think (MATX)

XFX Radeon hd 7770, DD CORE.

Coolermaster 500w psu

4gb Corsair RAM (getting another one soon) - cannot remember make

AMD FX 4130 with standard heatsink - upgrading the heatsink soon as its noisy -.-

My copy of windows 7 is also a cracked version, may be that (64 bit)

Is there a buzzer plugged in to your mobo (by where the power switch/LEDs plug in)?

If so, it could be your MB saying something. Can't say I've heard of a PSU with a buzzer.

In general, CM PSUs aren't particularly good. Suggest you get that refund, especially if it won't cost you much. Look in my sig for decent stuff. 500W+ is fine.

yeah I do, its near the bottom, near the gpu, but the noise is from the cpu and psu area up top. there is a coil near the back of the psu, visable and the sound ccould be from there.

the only thing is I cant be bothered to rma it. if my pc will be ok im fine. I have head phones so its all good but I can hear through them aswell

Okay, so i opened up my computer, the noise is no where near the buzzer. More towards the PSU (up top) and possibly a capacitor on the mobo, i think its that not receiving enough power.

This person is having exactly the same issue http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php?topic=135244.0
and here is a video by him, myn is like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eASgLiwnJB8
