Hi Folks,
I have a Dell Inspiron 1564 and bought 2x4GB 1600MHz Cruicial Vengeance SODIMMS. I checked beforehand that they should be compatible, even though I don't expect them to run at full speed.
However, when I use these SODIMMS, my laptop begins to boot, then when windows is loading it falls over and reboots. It's like the memory is unstable and as soon as lots of data is being read/written, the machine falls over.
I've tried both modules individually and also ensured they are seated properly. I've used different versions of BIOS (A8,A10,A11 and A13) but the same issue occurs.
Yet, looking at the post here, someone seems to have it working, albeit at 1066MHz (Which is what I was expecting): http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1631120/dell-inspiron-1564-ram-corsair-vengeance-2x4gb-1600mhz.html
Am I doing something daft here or is it just not compatible?
Cheers all,
Mike
