GPU is making a weird noise

I have a GTX 460 and when I plug it in there is no display on the screen, however for the first 10 seconds I can hear little beeps from the GPU (very quiet). Any ideas what this could be?

yes I have a corsair 430W builder series PSU

using one PCI-E from powersupply and a molex to pcie converter for the other connection, both are in correctly.
