Hi there,

Which is better? HD 7870 OR HD 7870 XT?

My friend recommended the 7870 XT for me, but i want to ask: which is better on gaming & rendering?

7870 uses the pitcairn architecture which is in all 7800 series cards, and the 7870 xt uses the Tahiti architecture which is in 7900 series cards, so essentially the 7870 xt is a crippled 7950 with a bad name and should have been called the 7930. The performance that is on the 7870 xt is near equal to the 7950 by about 5% - 8%.
