I have a home server that is running Windows Server 2012 which hosts a Windows 7 VM. It basically acts like a NAS for all my home devices. I have never seen the CPU stressed.

I am kinda concerned about the power usage, since its a 95w TDP CPU. Would it be worth it to replace it with a low power ATOM CPU / Board? In terms of $$$. I would have to buy the new board.

The X5560 was free.

Free is good. Your CPU is rated to max out at 95w. When it is idling (or operating at less than 100%) it pulls less power.

Honestly, I would stick with what you have now and spend your money elsewhere.
