It shouldn't be an issue. I have run live CDs of mint/ubuntu on new windows 8 laptops at my work (Best Buy) and only ran into one issue. Since pretty much all windows 8 laptops have UEFI BIOS, I had to go in and set it from UEFI to Legacy boot, after that it booted into Linux just like any other system.
