Hmm thanks, is there a problem with the parts i was on a small budget took 2 years to save like 5 pound a week got family and kids cant spend to much wife goes mad, most items are used if you can suggest any worthwhile upgrades any would be welcome, thanks.

No, there isn't a problem with your parts. You should be able to push your CPU to 4.3-4.7 depending on how good your cooler is. You're running it at a very modest 3.8GHz, but I'd push to at least 4.3GHz. The fx-6300 is a great CPU.

Nice build.

In the past ive overclocked and seem to always fuck up my pc, i am using it to run games though especially arma 3 do you think i would really notice a diffrence? all i read is disasters and i really cant afford to mess this one up.

I know how to change multiplier and voltage etc but when we start goign into ram timings im lost.

Well my cooler is a eco coolit water cool thingy, im idling at only 10c and max load on prime is 30c.

thanks for ya replys buddy

I say if you cant afford to mess it up, then leave it at 3.8

You can always push more, but you would have to be willing to troubleshoot an issue if it isnt stable. Or, you can reset it back to default. As long as you dont mess with increasing voltages and fry your parts ( and use established overclock settings for your cpu).

I have OC my i7 920 from 2.66 to 3.8 and been running stable for 3 years, but it cost me time to test for stability after i finished the research on established settings.

Well im testing arma 3 all on ultra with aa x 4 not 8 and am getting between 65-100 fps depending on where i am on the map seems good to me especially when my old pc q9300 and gt240 was struggling to make 25 fps so im happy guess if it aint broken dont fix it .

Thanks again now time to enjot the machine rahter than playing around with it =).

SORRY my 3dmark 11 score was 5490 do you think this is ok?

onlly 2 more questions really appreciate the replys guys and girls.

Ive tried running win 7 64 bit and its ok but i hate the way things have changed liek the start menu and stuff things like the show desktop icon being moved to the right ( whats that all about ? ) anyway i prefer vista sp2 64 bit especially now all the bugs and stuff are fixed and there going to be updating it till 2017 so no rush to change.

Do yo think i am losing any perfomance using vista over win 7, i know win 7 boots faster but i dont care about that what you think ?

Also i have tried keeping my parts to the same sort of era.. do you think any of them are bottleneckign each other ? i was thinking of maybe getting another gtx480 running in sli, untill maybe upgrading to a gtx670 in the future opinions most welcome

thanks all looking forward to what you say =) going to work now so will read them tonight have a nice day all, and let the fragging commence tonight !!!!

Kind regards

Performance difference:

Personally, I really didn't like Vista and Windows 7 made me very happy. I think once you get used to it you'll like it.

Your system isn't bottlenecking anything. Yes, the 480 is getting old. (The 780 was just released this week.) However, I don't think it is gonna hamper you too much, but with a 850W PSU ..you might want to go SLI...if you can find a 480 at a reasonable price.

Overclocking. From what I've read it seems easy to overclock the fx-6300 safely. But you need to find some "how to.." guides on it and maybe search forums. For now, I'd stick with the 3.8GHz and if you have time ...do some research.

RAM: don't overclock it. Just leave it as it is. Just make sure your RAM is running at 1866. Sometimes when you install RAM the system will run it lower and you gotta switch it to the correct speed.
