When i built my pc, my windows 7 premium 64 bit disk did not have service pack 1 on it.
Now i want to re-install windows using the upgrade option. Without having to download the ISO with sp1 and go through the hassle of getting the MS download tool and buy a flash drive, etc......am i wrong to just re-install using my original win7 disk and afterwards update the sp1?
Anything i need to be wary of in re-installing via the Update option?

thanks

my whole reason for wanting to re-install windows was that i thought malware had caused this problem i've been having of the inability to click and open folders or programs on the desktop or on the taskbar. hitting cntr alt del then cancel brings it back. this happens every 20 mins or so and 'i think' only when i leave the optical tracball mouse alone for a time.........then i realize that somehow my usb selective suspend setting in power options got enabled. i've disabled this setting and still the problem persists. If i could know how to resolve this, i would not do the re-install....is this annoyance fixable or have i corrupted my registry? Thank God for you all.

sorry to be such a pain
