I have a PC with
Core 2 Quad Q6600 cpu and
Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R (rev.2) mainboard.

On the same mainboard, if I update the cpu to QX9650 would I experience any problems with my existing boot disk?
(I hope not to install Windows all over again)

Thanks.

Thank you for the quick answers.
I do periodic backups. It's a good idea to take one backup before the update.
I have the latest bios for my mainboard though it dates back to mid 2009. The QX9650 is among its cpu support list.

Thanks again.

You're good to go then :)

Just make sure you put some fresh thermal paste on your cpu if you are using the existing heat-sink (just rub the old off with some tissue) - it just allows for better cooling imo.

Good Luck with the upgrade!
