Is this good enough for a gaming system for my wife

Hi guys,

I need a cheap gaming system for my wife, I'm going for a pre-built with OS for around £500 as my budget is tight.

I found this system and it looks bang on the money http://www.palicomp.co.uk/gaming-pcs/excalibur-merlin-system.html

Do you think it will be ok for her? She plays games like DayZ and ARMA and is struggling on a laptop with 10FPS at the moment. If I can get 40FPS on Medium to High I think we will be happy. (If I can upgrade the graphics card I will, but it's not looking like I will be able to stretch my budget much farther)

Many thanks for your kind advice.

That looks like a terrible deal. The FX-4130 is a Faildozer CPU, paired up with an old HD6670 (probably a DDR3 version) on an older motherboard, with a no-name PSU; you can do a lot better if you build the system yourself. It won't be cheaper that way, but it will definitely be better.
I am not familiar with UK shopping sites, but I am sure a lot of suggestions will be forthcoming.

Hey there,

for like £500-600 you can build a much better and effective system for your wife, if you know how to build a system on your own or at least with somebody to help, including monitor/keyboard/speakers/op.system etc...

prebuilt systems are always a dead deal to me. i wouldnt invest my hard-earned money on them...

here are my recommendations for a decent budget build. your wife can do anything on it, even with the recent demanding games with decent performance. (dont expect miracles though.. :) )

or at least it will give you an idea, what to build around or even if you buy something prebuilt you can check back at it to compare prices...

they are a bit higher then your budget but you have the possibility to get a smaller size monitor or to replace gpu with amd hd7790 gpu to lower the costs a bit. it should provide you slightly less but similar performance for a cheaper price...
