Hey!
I got a bit of a problem here.
First of all, here are my specs:
CPU: Intel Core i7 3770K 3.50GHz Standard Cooling (Default Fan comes with the CPU)
RAM: 8GB Single Channel DDR3 1666MHz (In Speccy it says 686MHz but when i bought it online it said 1666MHz, so)
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe
Graphic card: GTX 680 2GB by GIGABYTE Windforce 3 fans
Hard drives: 1 x 240GB Corsair Force 3 SSD (storage for games) and 1 x 120GB Corsair Force 3 SSD (storage for software and Windows 7)
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
Power Supply: Corsair TX 1050W Silver Grade
My case is a CM Storm Trooper and it's very ventilated with 4 fans, and i live in a basement which is cool. My graphic card is 27 degrees celcius idle and 50-60 in games.
Optical drives are standard and the same with the built on sound card.
So it's a pretty decent machine and can run games pretty good, compared to my old rig.
But here's my problem. I've seen benchmarks and watched videos of people playing Far Cry 3, Assassins Creed 3, BF3, Batman: Arkham City, RIFT, Neverwinter etc, all on the highest settings with a GTX 680 and overall a pretty good machine, but not better than mine.
In Far Cry 3, i have FPS around 50 on MEDIUM which is like what the hell?
In Assassins Creed 3, i have all on the lowest settings unless the resolution and i get 60 FPS, but in Boston (main city) i get 40-50.
BF3 Runs pretty good at very high on 60 FPS, but on ultra, 30-40.
Shouldn't i be able to run these games on MAX settings like everyone else?
I have installed the latests Direct X, drivers for everything (Motherboard, CPU, Graphic Card etc).
I don't overclock because my knowledge about that isn't that big, but i've tried overclocking my graphic card to about +150MHz (core clock), but it instantly chrashed in every game.
I'm soon going to buy another GTX 680 to fix these problems, but that cant be right? If i bought another GTX 680, should i buy a better cooler for my CPU? My CPU heats up to about 70 when playing BF3, and with another graphic card i think it might reach 100
BTW, i have two screens and on the second one, i some times get small red pixels on the screen

I would look into changing your RAM to be a dual channel set up, and I would also enable XMP to get your current stick running at it's rated speed. So add another 8 gigs of ram? But how to enable XMP? And what is it, and can it fry my RAM? I don't really know what it is, as you can see

Check the GPU load at idle, you can do this either through the drivers or by using GPU-Z (freebie
).
We're getting quite a few threads here with similar performance issues and almost every time it's caused by malware, usually some form of bitcoin miner, so if the idle GPU load is more than a few percent, it's probably time for a virus/malware sweep.

eXtreme Memory Profile, they are preconfigured BIOS settings for RAM timings, speed, etc... XMP is Intel specific, AMD has their own. If your MOBO/CPU support it it will basically automatically configure your RAM to run at it's rated speeds.I ran through the users guide and i didn't find a thing about XMP or RAM. Only how to install it and stuff. I went into the BIOS and found nothing about setting my RAM to XPM.
Help?

I just installed it, and it was already at 0% when i ran the .exe. But when i load up chrome, steam or something else it goes to 16% and 10%, but i guess that's pretty normal (i thought you'd just like to know). It's always at 0%, and i also just formatted my computer, 5 days ago.

http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1155/P8Z77-V_DEL... Page 3-8. It won't let me cut and paste the info, it's in the AI Tweaker portion of the BIOS, set the AI Overclock Tuner to XMP, and then to the profile that is of the proper speed. RTM

Sorry
I should've just gone through it more thoroughly. I found that XMP thing in the AI Tweaker. But there was only one profile called "Profile 1". I ran Speccy again, and now it says 800MHz instead of 686MHz. Is it good now, or should it be 1666MHz? Btw, it's Corsair Vengeance RAM!
Plus, I've got Advanced System Cleaners' gadget running in the background, and it says that my computer is using 30% of my RAM just by having chrome, steam, skype, Hola!, Razer Synapse and fraps running

hm.. please don't mix ram brands and models. If your unable to get the same stick to run in Dual channel mode then please go to Newegg and get a match kit. Seeing you have a GTX680, how in gods name did you manage 1 stick of ram?Hehe. Maybe this sounds stupid, but in my mind, i thought like this. One of the most demanding games when i made my computer, was BF3, and it required 4 gigs of ram, so i thought 8 gigs was enough to background applications too. Maybe that was stupid? I am seeing people have normally 12,16,24 gigs of ram when they have a computer like mine. I live i Denmark, so newegg is unavailable for me, but another 8 gigs of Corsair Vengeance 1600mhz costs 60 bucks. Should i go for it, with another GTX 680?

DDR stands for Double Data Rate, so it is reporting that it is running at 800mhz, but since it is DDR, that means it is running at double, or 1600mhz so it is running as SPECified. You were right in selecting 8gb of RAM, that's pretty ideal for a gaming system, however, you would have done better to order 2 4GB sticks, so it can take advantage of the dual channel architecture of the MOBO. Dual channel essentially means it can run two sticks as one, without getting complicated at all hah.

Okay, so my RAM is running at an ideal speed. But what would be best for me? 4 sticks of 4gb ram? or 2 sticks of 8gb?
Plus another question if you have knowledge about this
I have a default fan for my CPU and it reaches 60-70 degrees celcius when playing high demanding games such as far cry 3, bf3 and games like that. If i install another GTX 680, my CPU has to follow up, wouldn't it having the risk of overheating or stressing out? Shouldn't i install a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ?
I think it fits my cpu

Yes it does and Noctua makes great coolers, if you are willing to spend that much you will be happy and can get some good OC's out of it, but adding a GPU shouldn't affect your CPU temps that much. If you don't want to spend as much on a cooler, grab the Coolermaster Hyper 212 EVO or whatever it is, pretty much the old stand by. You just want any even multiple of sticks on your board, another identical 8gb stick would be ideal, but for compatibility issues you may want to buy a new set. Sites like Newegg will allow you to swap your RAM if it is not compatible, see if you can find a local site with the same policy.

If i fry something, im afraid i dont have the money to replace it. I think im going for that Hyper 212. It fits my CPU right?Buy a new set of ram? What do you mean? But if i bought another identical corsair vengeance 8gb, wouldn't it first have to use the 8 gigs of ram, before using the other stick? or does it use the two at the same time?

You would use both, RAM is sold in pairs/triples/quads because they are tested together to work, RAM of the exact same specifications (speed, timings, etc..) should run together fine but it is not guaranteed. The hyper 212 will fit, you can get an easy OC out of your chip simply by upping the multiplier, hard to mess up, but not necessary either.

Hmm...
I think im going for that extra GTX 680, They hyper 212 because i wont OC, and i dont think i need to, and an extra stick of ram. Wouldn't that be nice?
Used Tomshardware once and this was just incredible! Just launched Far Cry 3, and i went from the preset medium to Ultra which is 3 presets higher, and with MXAA x 4! ITS BEAUTIFUL! Thx Chugot! Im going to try with Assassins creed 3, even though nvidia says that AS3 isnt optimized for nvidia users
Do you think i'll have to set on the extra stick of ram im going to buy, to XMP?

Nope, that setting is "over-arching", it applies to all the installed RAM, just make sure that stick is as identical to your current one as possible. If you don't mind the color scheme, get some Noctua fans for your Evo, they are high quality and quiet. Yes, your system will be quite beefy with another 680, it'll be a fun one.
