Hey guys,

I have an AMD A8 4500M Processor on my asus K75DE laptop, current core speed is @ 2300 mhz. I was thinking of trying to overclock it. Is it a good idea to overclock? Is it safe? I have never done it before.
Thanks in advance,

Zero

I've never tried to OC a laptop, does your BIOS even allow you to OC? I was under the impression that most laptop BIOS don't even have the required settings as an option. Anyway, even if it did, I wouldn't recommend it. Most laptops are limited in the cooling department, and overclocking involves more heat. When you OC a desktop you make sure you have an upgrade cooling system because the stock coolers can't handle the extra heat, I would assume the same applies to laptops except multiplied because of the limited airflow.

Don't overclock the cpu on your laptop, there is no direct contact cpu cooler that will cool it and like the above poster stated most laptop bios will not allow you to overclock. You may be thinking of using a cooling fan that goes under the laptop but to properly cool the cpu you need direct contact with it using copper, or some heat conducting element. So in short, it isn't worth the damage you will most likely do to the cpu and possibly other components.

Your bios is probably locked in the laptop and doesn't support overclocking. And the laptop probably won't be able to handle the dissipate the increase in heat output caused by the overclock. So no, overclocking a laptop is a bad idea.
