zero gaming: fx-8350 or i5 3570k

I'm going to change my phenom 720BE system and I'm in doubt;
zero gaming, for everyday but speedy use and a bit of OC.

Thank you for your opinion/advice

More about gaming 8350 3570k
  1. I will always back intel when it comes to this but considering gaming is not what this configuration is for amd will suffice
  2. Your mobo should be able to handle the 8350 with a bois update so the 8350.
  3. Fx 4300/fx 6300/fx8320

The fx 8350 costs more and doesnt give you more performance

Or simply get a ssd lololololol
  4. fx-8350 or i5 3570k
in certain games that can use the additional cores the FX8350 will do well, but an overclocked 3570k is the gamers choice.........
  5. Best answer
FX-6300 with good air (or water)
  6. As it is right now even the i5-3570k is up to par in games that supports 8-cores with the FX 8350, even though it's only a 4-core CPU. Most games atm can't utilize 8-cores, which makes the FX 8350 a weak competender as it has horrible single-threaded performance. The i5-3570k will also remain a lot cooler and will only use about 2/3 of the power of the AMD FX 8350.
  7. doesnt matter since op dont play games
  8. I don't see why you need to upgrade if you're not doing much. Getting an SSD would be the best option for you.
  9. yes get a ssd
  10. Samsung 840 Pro is what you should purchase.
  11. or ocz vertex 4

    Reading comprehension FTW
  13. Of course i'm going to purchase 840 pro 256, asrock extreme4 or d3h, 2x4gb 1600 or more if AM3+; it's not an upgrade, I'm assembling a brand new system.
Keep in mind that i'm not interested in gaming at all, I'm only looking for a FAST pc for everyday use for which tricore is not enough.

  14. 128/120gb ssd is enough for OS and some programms.
you dont need to overclock since you just browse the internet ect...
    i3-3220 is enough.

Not for gaming but I love o/c; I ordered right now:
    Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
    G.Skill Ares F3-1866C9D-8GAB 1866MHz 8GB (2x4GB) 9-10-9 2N Low Profile
    Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB WD1002FAEX
    Xigmatek Aegir SD128264
Case Antec Three Hundred Two USB3

    just add my two ASUS ENGTS450 DirectCU/DI/1GD5 cards (o/c 990MHz when Folding@home)

Nothing against Intel but my last was, in 1989, a 8086 8MHz...

    Thanks to everybody
