hello toms hardware community,

i bought a new heatsink the other day. this is my problem

i installed the new heatsink. everything is hooked up correctly. after i started my computer up, my monitor says there is no signal. the monitor works fine on another computer.

i reseated the video card to make sure it was seated properly and it was. after hours of trying to fix it, i resorted to removing the small battery and waiting 10 minutes. when i put the battery back in and started the computer up the monitor was working but my keyboard and mouse were not working. so i restarted the computer. now the monitor is not getting a signal again.

is this a power issue? or a mobo issue?

my specs

intel i7 920
asus p6t mobo
coolermaster hyper N520 heatsink (old one was thermaltake v1)
antec 700w power supply
geforce 550ti

do you need anymore info?

any help is greatly appreciated

the monitor is on dvi. i dont know why i didn't try this before, but this just happened.

i unplugged all usb cables. turned on the computer and the monitor works. i plugged in my keyboard usb cable and the keyboard works. i plugged in my mouse usb cable and the mouse still doesn't work. does that sound like not enough power?

the new heatsink is a 4 pronged cable. the old one was 3. is the new one taking more power so the computer can't handle everything and is keeping one component off?
