Upgrading my CPU

So, I have a 525W power supply and an X58 chipset. I currently have an i7 930 running at 2.8 GHZ, and want to know if an i7 3930k is compatible with my system. really new, if it is not compatible, please tell me what would be.

nope. you'll need a new motherboard for the i7 3930k.

I would just recommend that you buy a 3rd party cooler and overclock your 930 to 3.5ghz or higher. then save up for a new cpu and motherboard later.

No Sandy Bridge, Ivy Bridge, or Haswell processors will be compatible with your motherboard. You'll need to upgrade your motherboard.
