HDD hardware ID, encryption and cloning....

Okay, simple questions really.

1. How do you know, how can you check if a hard drive has some kind of anti cloning security on it? ie.. Hardware ID so the software is linked to that hard drive only. Or simply software encryption such like PGP.

2. If a computer did have one of the above suggestions and you clone the HDD. How would you know if it was encrypted or had a hardware ID security on the original HDD? what characteristics would one be getting with the newly cloned HDD? Would it boot into windows at all? would it boot but get constant blue screen? or ?

Has anyone tried it?

I cloned drives that were encrypted with BitLocker or TrueCrypt.

if your drive is encrypted with BitLocker or TrueCrypt, you need to decrypt it before you clone and then encrypt again after cloning. You will otherwise not be able to access the data in the encrypted area on the cloned drive.
