Low FPS in Minecraft?

Ever since I got my computer, I could run Minecraft at a steady 90 fps in my Taiga Biome. Ever since a couple of days ago, I've noticed that I'm not getting the frame rate I used to be getting. I noticed this after I tried (and failed) at allocating more RAM. I had 1699MB before and when I tried some guy's method of allocating ram, my ram allocated went down to 989MB and I was getting 50-60fps only.

I tried some other guys method and ended up allocating 4GB of ram but that didn't do anything, I was still getting the same frame rate. The next thing I did was re-install java because the method the guy used was editing something in java. Still, no difference. Tried RamDisk thinking it might be because of loading, didn't do anything. Finally, I decided to update my drivers and this was where I thought I did it. I opened up Minecraft and I was getting 90 fps like I used to and I was really happy. But the next morning, I was back at 50-60 fps. I tried to update my drivers again but it said I was using the latest ones so I don't know what to do now. My fps range is from 25-70 now and before it was 70-120.

The reason why I need all the frames is because I actually record Minecraft gameplay and when I record now (with Dxtory) I only get 20-30 fps while before I used to get 50-70 while recording. I don't know what else to try. I already have Optifine installed (though it does nothing to my frame rate), I'm using Minecraft version 1.5.1 so the lag is not from 1.5 update. Does anyone know how I can get my old performance back?

Oh, and the CPU/Graphics card is the AMD A10 5700 3.4 GHz x4 with Radeon HD 7660D integrated Graphics. I have 8GB RAM clocked at 1600MHz and 1TB HDD 7200RPM although I run Minecraft on RamDisk now. Please. any help at all would be much appreciated.

I know this SUPER Friking old. But.
I have MC on my laptop and it runs SLOW AF....
Sometimes the CPU fan gets dusty and clogged causing it to slow down.
Every time I clean out my CPU fan it get a good framerate.
Thermal Throttling is caused by too much heat.
(I need to get a slower CPU on my laptop so that I can ACTUALLY play MC>.........)
So try that ans see what happens.
And go ahead and clean out your whole system. It wouldnt hurt to.
reset cmos. what happens?

go into control panel/add-remove. dump the java BS.

the apu relies on ram for performance. if you were running 16gb I may have tried it.

amd has it's own ramdisc thing. but you can only use 4 (with the "free" addition ).

don't try "some guys" stuff. most of those guys are dumb guys.

Might be kind of difficult playing Minecraft if you "dump the Java BS"....

That update is still "inside" the 1.5 update. And it's known to be a laggy update. LOTS of people are having fps problems with 1.5 and greater, especially when recording video. It's not the computer. Minecraft just got laggier.

If you want the easy way to allocate ram, download MCpatcher and go to the options menu. Then just change it to whatever you want. If you're playing minecraft with anything more than a passing whim, you need MCpatcher or Optifine anyway.

What exactly do you mean by "dump the java bs?"

So are you going to download MCpatcher and follow my directions? Or are you just going to keep asking people how to fix it? Just curious.

While you're at it, maybe you should browse the Minecraft forums. They are going to have all the answers about that game that you could ever possibly need.

Oh, forgot to tell you, it didn't work. I already asked Minecraftforum before this, they were no help at all.

You may have to reset your computer to factory settings if you have messed something up in Windows by mistake.... I personally reinstall my OS every year just in case. A laptop like yours will have a factory setting feature you may be more inclined to use, you will lose any files and programs you haven't backed up....considering you were messing around with allocation could have created a permanent problem....

Additionally you may want to consider switching to 64-bit Java rather than the default the Java site downloads (32-bit), that gave several people I know massive upgrades in Minecraft performance.

I have a desktop, not a laptop. I also have Oracle Java JRE 7 Update 21 for 64-bit. I have also forgot to mention in my post that I did a system restore to when I installed RamDisk (May 20th) and after my PC restarted and I logged in it said that it couldn't restore properly because it didn't have access to file. It told me to turn my Anti-Virus off and so I did. After I turned it off and tried again the same error came up.

But I'm getting good frames in other games..? It feels like a Java Problem but I can't say I pay too much attention to fps in other games, I just play because I can run them. I know I get 50-60 fps in MW2 but I don't pay attention to it.

Actually I did some fps tests and I've noticed that I'm getting slightly lower frame rates in those games as well. This could be however because I have my Minecraft Server running in the background. I am not sure.

I used to get 100+ fps in TF2 and in the test I was getting like 80 or 90. In BF3 @ 720p I was getting 30-35 while normally I would get like 35-45 and in MW2 I get 40-50 while walking around and 60+ at spawn. I lag a bit in MW2 with alot of explosions and don't recall experiencing that. I don't plan on recording these games so these frame rates are still playable. I think it is a graphics card problem but I don't know what it is. It's integrated graphics, keep in mind. I updated the drivers, I have performance on Balanced. What is up? Also just to remind you guys, I got the same fps I used to get in Minecraft (90fps) as soon as I updated my drivers but the next morning, it went back to 60. Do you guys know what the problem could be?

I know this is kinda old now. But don't worry. I have the same problem with Minecraft with my 7970.. I can play BF3 on ultra with stable ~75 - 80+ fps. Whilst I get 30-60 fps in Minecraft. I've tried literally everything I could find searching on Google. Anything from new drivers to restarting / "re-installing" Minecraft. To be honest. I think Mojang has something against AMD ^.^
