Hello Masters!

Guys, I am opening an internet shop which my players only play online

games like HON, Star craft, etc. and I want a V-card that would last long, about 10

years or probably less. I'm choosing sapphire since they have good cooling sol.

It's either 7770 that has a 6pin connector to the power supply or

A 7750 that needs power through motherboard only, I base there life span in

watts they needed. The lesser watt needed the more the longer life span? or

the more powerful GPU the longer the life span?

(Overclocking can shorten the life of the card?) Yes or No

Solution
basing your business planning and feasibility study on a 10 year upgrade cycle is just unrealistic as reality will sure disappoint your plans.

a 3-5 yeas advance planning is all you can realistically achieve given the current manufacturer warranty periods and the pace at which the gaming environment is changing.

i would not business plan any hardware to last beyond its warranty period which are now a max of 3 years and not with Sapphire.

XFX used to offer a lifetime warranty but i think not anymore, so you should buy something that comes with 3 years warranty and only anticipate that half of the cards will last beyond the 3 years while others will die, and you can not do anything about it it dies 1 day after your warranty expires...
Overclocking can shorten the life of a card, but it depends on how much, and undervolting will likely lengthen the life.

Life isn't very closely related to the power consumption, though performance and price are.

You may be better off using integrated graphics. The fewer parts to go wrong, the better. One less fan, a few less chips, less capacitors etc. would help.

EDIT: I am assuming you are looking at life in terms of "until it blows up", not "until it's too slow".

You wish to play games with these cards after 10 years? Heck, even 4x GTX Titans will not be able to run games for 10 more years. After about 3 to 5 yrs, you will see them as minimum requirements for games and in 5 yrs dx 12 or maybe in dx 13 or 14 may come and lastly, there is no card that will let you play games at even 1080p for 10yrs with decent settings. The hd 7750 and hd 7770 will also be absolute in 2 years time.

I reckon an AMD 7850 can and offer good performance from here till the next 5 years, think about the people that purchased the HD 6850 which was released October 22, 2010 and there good now, and that card is still rocking it, and it can play the latest games safely and properly, and i reckon its good for the next 2 years.

So the HD 7850 will last you a good 5 years run from performance side of view, if your worried about its wearing out or blowing up, please note that capacitor does age, but my dad 15 year old computer with those non solid capacitors motherboard still work its DDR 1 machine :

Cause he does not tinker with it, and that includes overclocking, and the computer have good airflow with a front fan.

So just my 2 cents

Like people say, very few people will be playing those games in 10 years. The games they'll be playing 10 years from now wouldn't run on the $1000 Titan mentioned above. If you're planning on offering these same games forever, I wouldn't go with Sapphire. I've owned 4 and every one of them died within 6 months of warranty expiry (infact the first died in the same month the warranty expired). Sapphire don't build their cards to last beyond warranty when they can get more money from future sales replacing the broken cards.

Thank You ALL! It Helps me a little.. Its hard to for me to acquire 50 units with 7850, its out of budget. I guess i will just mix my card with 7750 (30) 7770 (20) since this are both Cape Verde. I'm not making my cards go overclock its only for online games like World of Warcraft. I will just hope both cards last about 5-6 years.. ANYONE Share Your Opinion, I'm not closing it yet.

Also in 10 years (or much less) the entire gaming experience will change and so even if you hypothetically manage to keep your hardware running for 10 years it will not be relevant by this time.

And yes integrated graphics seem to last much longer that dedicated cards and also have less points of failure.

either base your business planning on a 3-5 years upgrade cycle or find other business models that are more feasible.

@ MYNewRig and Someone

Thanks for you opinion guys about business.

I appreciate well!

I decided to get 7770 guys since it has two fan and if either of one will not spin anymore at least there is still one left spinning and with big aluminum heat sink, compared to 7750 that has 1 fan and small heat sink. I will just pray each Unit with the card will last a year in order to gain back the money that i invest..

hmm 4-5 months is enough to gain it back.. :) NO FM2 support AMD Motherboard
that has 3.0 slot.. 3.0 slot only for Intel?

Thanks!!

Yes i was also going to ask you, how you will manage to keep these fans spinning for so many years, but it seems that you have that covered which is great thinking.

and no AMD does not have chipset that supports PCI-E 3.0 as of yet, because it is really not important and does not make any difference even for the highest performing of cards, you will be just fine with 2.0

Finally i know that Sapphire may offer the best prices but my experience with them is that their cards are somewhat garbage, they are not well manufactured and would not last long. According to the pricing you have available i think you should consider Gigabyte or ASUS especially that both offer 3 years of warranty instead of Sapphire's 2 years.

Good luck with your business :)
