In my computer I have a 1 tb hdd that has windows 8 on it and all my personal stuff and a bunch of my games on it. I want to get an ssd and i want to migrate windows 8 to the ssd. I don't mind doing a clean install into the ssd but I want to be able to delete windows 8 from my hdd but keep my personal files on the hdd. Is there any way to do this?

You are much better off with a fresh install to the ssd. Disconnect your hdd, install 8, get all the drivers updated, update 8 etc. Once it's running, image the ssd as a starting point.

Reconnect your hdd, gather up all your data, personal stuff, etc and copy that to dvd or a second hdd. Then reformat your 1tb, reinstall your games, etc., move your data back and you should be good to go.

That said, you can migrate your 8 install to the new ssd, but that tends to bring any tiny, unobtrusive issues along which may cause you heartburn in the long run.

Thanks for the quick reply Mark! I will do that, good thing I haven't used up a lot of space on my hdd so transferring the data shouldn't be a problem. A clean install it is then!
