Hiya I recently build a rig and the graphics card does not want to display anything, the fans are spinning and it seems to be 'working' but I get no display. The graphics card has 2 pcie ports (6pin and 8pin) and my psu only has 2 6pin pcie connectors covering 12 out 14, before anyone points out that's my issue in the graphics card manuals it clearly states 2 pcie 6pin connectors are enough to run the card. Its also worth mentioning that when I try to install the drivers that came with the card I get a message stating 'no XFX hardware detected', I restarted the computer multiple times and and even ignored the warning and installed the drivers and still have no display. Apart from that everything else works fine I am actually using the computer right now to post this but obviously with the onboard graphics for display.

Specs

M5A78L-M/USB3
AMD FX 8350
XFX Radeon HD 7870 2gb
8gb ram 1600MHz
Novatech 750W ATX psu
1TB hdd

Please look what I tried before making any suggestions:

.Tried 3 different monitors/ 3 different cables
.Re-seated graphics card multiple times;
.Graphics card is firmly placed, pretty sure you could balance a bucket of water on top;
.Installed latest bios;
.Changed settings in bios to use pcie as the main for
graphics;
.Attempted to install latest drivers for Catalyst (gives an error);

So after I tried all of that I can only assume its a hardware issue, so tomorrow I will be taking the gpu and psu to a friends house and see if it displays anything on his rig, and if it does I will assume its motherboard issue e.g. faulty pcie port, and if it doesn't a psu issue. Until tomorrow I have no solutions so just wondering if anyone have any ideas.

Thanks in advance.

If you do as you say your are going to do, you should find out if it is indeed a bad PCIeX16 slot... or the card itself. The latter would be my guess.

Same problem here...along with at least a half dozen other people that have commented here. Find out anything further? Any fix?

Yea I did turns out the card did need all pins to be covered regardless of what the manuals said (guess its standard manual to every card) so I just bought 6pin to 8pin adapter and it runs fine now.
