I Used my external hard drive to put windows 7 on my netbook it had windows xp on it to begin with. when said and done i deleted all the data on the disk and loaded a movie on to it. today i wanted to use the drive to try to force windows onto another computer but the drive wanted to be formatted. I went to diskpart and cleaned it and tried to format it as ntfs and it keeps failing I have never had this much trouble with this drive. Any help would be appreciated

I don't know what "force windows onto another computer" means but I'm guessing it isn't allowed by the EULA and so therefore nobody on this forum will assist you to do so. FYI, if I had a drive that wouldn't format I would contact the manufacturer if it was still under warranty or throw it away if it wasn't.

I say force because the other computer isn't cooperating and i am using a purchased windows seven disk loaded onto a drive and when the computer is up and running it needs a product key to work correctly so have to buy that so in my book seems legal and not what i want help with I want help with the drive that worked a little wile ago and now isn't and all that has changed is the operating system on this computer

I also had a problem like this with Windows XP. My 32 GB Pen Drive didnt format, just some errors every time i tried to format it. I thought it was defective. Then, i tried it on Windows 8 and 7 on my quad-boot system and i was able to format it. Most likely, it maybe a bug with the OS
