My system is old and I need to upgrade to play the games I have.
I played WoW with settings almost maxed on this rig with no issues.
Now I play Star Wars the Old Republic, Guild Wars 2 and Neverwinter which are all mmo's. My rig has to be turned to minimum settings to make them playable ....
IM FINE SOLO GET 20-30 FPS but once in a party or raid and all the eye candy spells start my fps drops to single digits.
OK on to what's in my current rig
CPU = AMD ATHLON 64 X2 4000+ Barton core 2.1G
MB = ASUS M3A78-CM
PS = ANTEC 500W
GPU = GT 240
RAM= 2X1GB CORSAIR VALUE SELECT 667 MHZ DDR2
ACER P244W RESOLUTION SET NATIVE TO 1920X1080
Windows 7 ultimate
WD caviar 250GB x2
My goal here is to upgrade to eliminate the video lag I'm getting when grouped or in a raid party.
Im a cheap bastage and wont spend big bucks on anything but guess you already know that by my current rigs specs lol
Now here is where I need input.
I figure that the GPU and RAM are the most pressing issues causing my lag and fps drop so my plan is get a new GPU and 4G of good ram

I would also like to upgrade my motherboard to use ddr3 ram and CPU to a QUAD core but don't have the funds to do all 4 right now.
My goal here is to be able to play lag free and at a decent fps for as little $$ possible.
I used to be into PC technology and was up on all the latest and greatest but that was 5 years ago! I tried to surf to get the info needed to make the right thrifty choices and all I got was a migraine headache so please help me out and link me some good bang for the buck GPU, CPU, and Ram that will get me where I want to be.
Also do I need to upgrade my MB to use DDR3 ram and PCI express 3.0 cards? Mine says its ddr2 and pci express 2.1 x16 will it accept the newer stuff?
Is it worth putting an AMD Phenom II X4 on my current MB? Will it help my issue?
I'm Disabled and on a fixed low income budget so please keep that in mind but at the same time if something is $50 but one that's $70 is way better performance and value wise id opt for the better in that case.
