Which should i choose between the two?

Correct me if im wrong, but this product isnt 8 core?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AMD-FX-6350-Black-Edition-3-90GHz-Socket-AM3-8-Core-CPU-Processor-FD6350FRHKBOX-/140981038017#ht_2556wt_1255

Never the less, which is the better to choose as they are both £120.

Amd fx-6350 black edition or amd fx-8350.

Thanks

More about choose
  1. The 8350 > 6350.
  2. Ok thank you. Is there a huge difference as ive just noticed i got abit mixed up as the fx 8350 is £160. Am i better off buying the 6350 or 6350 black edition for the extra £20?

    thankyou

Depends on your uses. What are they?

Both are "black editions." Both the 8-core FX 8350 and the 6-core FX 6350 are "unlocked" processors. The 8350 has a native clock at 4.0 GHz and a burst of 4.2, as opposed to 3.9 GHz with a burst of 4.2 GHz.

elemein is right, it depends on what you intend to use them for.

The 6350 and 6350 black edition are the same chip. There is no such thing as a black edition for the FX series currently so I am unsure why the website branded it as a black edition.

LOL! I thought the same thing. IF you look on the AMD box, it actually does say "Black Edition" on it for both chips.
  7. Im aware it does say black edition on the box, although it states 8-core in the description but on the image it says 6-core on the tin which is why im getting it wrapped around my knees!

My use is just everyday use and gaming here and there and the odd 3d movie thought to my 42inch tv. I dont want to have to rebuild it 3 years down the line.

    Thanks people.
  8. I'd go with the 6 then and save the extra 40 pounds (120 vs. 160).

Unless you're going to be doing some intensive cpu work, like editing video or audio, heavy database work, or transcoding stuff, then I think the extra two cores are superfluous.

Most games still use 4 cores at most. Very few use 6 or 8.

    Best of luck!
  9. Thank you very much for the help guys and ill go for the 6 core as its just an everyday computer and just don't want to fork money out in a few years apart from RAM :).
