Hello everyone,
I bought a Sapphire HD7950 2 months ago, to replace my old Asus HD5850. It has been working fine for 2 months. Yesterday, my PC shut down while i was playing Caesar IV . Pushing the power button, unplugging-replugging PC didnt do any good. I thought it could be a PSU trouble. My PSU is Thermaltake 600W.
Opened the case, no burn smell at all. Decided to unplug components in turn, to see if i can find the source of problem. I saw that, when i unplug GFX card, PC powers up. When i reconnect it's power, PC wont power up. Tried 7950 in second PCI-E slot, no good. I installed my old 5850 to check if it's OK. PC powered up normally with 5850 installed.
I even got a new 850W PSU(was considering to buy it anyways ) to make sure it is not a power insufficiency. It didnt help either.
Currently running PC with 5850, there seems to be no problem.
So, my 7950 is gone for good? I will ask for a replacement, but i wanted to make sure i am not missing any other possible problem.
