Hello. I need little help. I had read something about it but it is very confusing.
I have DVI-D dual link cable. My monitor is old one I think Compaq TFT7010 but it
has DVI-D connector. I had used this DVI-D dual link cable with my old
Leadtek 6800 GT with this monitor and it worked all ok. Now I had bought new system with ASUS p5q and Sapphire HD 4830 which have two DVI-I dual link connectors. And this DVI-D dual link cable is NOT working anymore on this monitor :( it just goes to sleep. I have to use adapter DVI-A to VGA to work.

So how is possible that DVI-D dual link cable is working on old 6800 Gt and not working on HD 4830 ???

I had ordered about hour ago new DVI-D single link cable.I hope I did not made a mistake and I will not work again :( Maybe my monitor support only single link?

In anyone knows please help. Thank you.

Don't worry about dual or single link, single link only goes up to 1080p, dual link will go to, whatever else. Monitors can be weird, and cables won't work on one but will work on another (I've had this problem). DVI cables are really really cheap off amazon, the one I have now I bought for 35 whole cents (seriously). If your using a single link component and everything is dual link, it'll go to the denominator which would be single link.

Thank you for your answer. Do you mean that If this DVI-D dual link cable is not working now on this monitor, that even DVI-D single link will not work too? :( I had ordered it from 10$ on ebay. Did I made a mistake?
