How to Transfer 4Tb HDD from WD My Book Enclosure to WD Elements Enclosure

I have a WD My Book 4Tb external USB 3.0 storage, the HDD inside the enclosure is a Hitachi 4Tb. I have transferred this 4Tb HDD into a WD Elements Enclosure which originally had a 2Tb HDD.

When I plug it into my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop it sees the drive as a single 1.63Tb partition. I have tried playing around with MBR and GPT partitions, splitting into two partitions but all I get is 1.63Tb total space. How can I get full 4Tb back?

MaY have to buy a new encloser. Sounds like the controller card in the new case has a firmware limit size on it. Try seeing if wd has firmware update for it.

I have already upgraded the firmware on the WD Elements enclosure. These also came in 3Tb version so I am hoping that a 4Tb should work in that enclosure.

The original WD My Book enclosure presents the drive with LBA I think, with encryption. I need to somehow reformat the HDD so that it can work in the WD Elements enclosure.

WD have a WD Align program to align the sectors but I don't understand, I think it may be for WinXP. I am using Win 7 32 bit.

Anyone tried this?
