Need a UPS or a surge protector for a high end PC

Alright, I don't know much about this topic, except that these things work to stop power surges from frying electronic equipment. I would appreciate if someone could help me out with this, I've been doing some research and I found out APC is a pretty good brand for this sort of thing, but I'd like a second opinion. All I know is that if a UPS or surge protector has more Joules then it can withstand more.

I don't know if it is important or not, but my PC has a Corsair TX750W modular power supply. Is that relevant towards which UPS or surge protector I should look for? Any help is appreciated.

Would you like to run during a power outage or just want to protect your system from an unreliable utility service or thunderstorm?

Thunderstorms and power outages, there's a lot of those where I live. I'm looking for the best and most reliable, price isn't an issue right now.
