Is a 60hz monitor okay for the 7970?

hey guys,

I live in a very technologically primitive country, so my choices for monitors are slim. I only one found one 120hz monitor, but it's way out of my budget. I was wondering, do I Really need more than 60hz? I'm considering the Asus LED MX239H Ips, had some great reviews on Newegg. I plan on gaming a lot on it, btw.

Monitors CAN'T bottle neck a GPU. You could, and should, enable vsync, but thsts not a bottleneck. Almost EVERYONE uses 60Hz for gaming and in general and practically NO ONE uses 120Hz. High resolution monitors dont even offer it, and as resolution goes up the current cables couldnt even carry that much data.

The bottom line is 120Hz is not needed, and its never going to be widely used because you can't really see the difference. Resolution will be pushed first. And a 7970 is not going to get anywhere near 120 FPS in any modern high end game. 120Hz monitors are almost always a,waste of money.

ehhh, is there scientifically proof to that? There are arguments from both sides of the fence.. so, I'm not bottleneck in the gpu?
