Hi guys, first time poster hoping i can get this issue resolved. I have a Acer Aspire 5740 laptop which i just recently had to reinstall windows 7 64 bit ( previously had 64 bit on it as well).I think the problem is that i played around with formatting it and partitioning it. I obviously partitioned it wrong and now i only have 1.74gb of usable ram. It says i have 2gb of ram in control panel and in the BIOS.

It deffinalty is a 4gb ram laptop. is there a way to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have an onboard GFX card that is using 256mb of ram so the system only has 1.74 gb remaining for the system usage. The missing 2gb is a puzzle esp if you havn't opened the system. Try opening the base. Remove the ram modules (care these are static sensitive - read about grounding your self - Also power off and battery removed) Check the size of the modules. There is normaly a sticker with the module size. Firmly reseat the ram. close the case. Replace the battery and see what happens

Just had a friend remove and reinstall ram. Still showing 1.74gb. Both the rams are in working condition though. So not sure what's happening
