nice. very nice. well color me envious. the best fx i ever personally saw was a 8350 which hit a stable (everyday) overclock at 5.5ghz...

that was a funny chip, because he couldn't get it stable from 5.1 to 5.4... but he kept raising the clock to see how far it would go. then bam. suddenly it became stable again... i think he got that one up to 5.7 (it wasn't stable) before temps and voltages forced him to back off.

its his overclock which proved to me that performance continues to go up linearly for the Piledriver chips regardless the overclock (bulldozer famously plateaued off at about 4.7)
wow... that's an awesome overclock for that vcore... and your temps are insanely good. what are they under load?

cause it looks to me like you've got a lot more room to overclock there. you're not even coming close to the thermal or power limits of that chip.. that chip probably will hit 5ghz...

yeah.. you got a great chip... at that voltage and those temps you should be able to take her up to 5+ghz... max vcore for that cpu is around 1.55-1.60, and the max temp is about 60-65C

so yeah... you've still got a lot of room to safely bump that badboy up.

You think i should keep going? im happy with it at 4.5 runs arma 3 like a dream all ultra thats good enough for me. im tempted but its my first overclock and i really do not want anytihng to go wrong .

nice necromancy on a dead post. that said, he was getting some seriously high clocks on some seriously low voltage. when you can take a 6300 up to 4.5 on what was basically stock voltage, you've got a good chip no matter what cooling solution you've got.

he got it up to 5.0ghz and the temps weren't even breaking 40C on prime which means the voltage wasn't particularly high either. that's a golden chip by any account. he likely could have gone higher.

since this thread last spring i saw a 6300 in this class personally. a friend had one up to 4.7 on stock voltage and we just kept pushing it. he was using an h80i for the cpu cooler, and the chip might have been binned by fry's electronics (it was a system they built for him), not sure on that part, but still the chip hit a day to day clock of 5.6ghz... he could actually get the chip up to 5.7 or 5.8 (can't remember) and load into windows, but temps and voltages were completely out of control at that point.
