I have been trying to copy some big folders, about 150gb from my external desktop HDD to a 2.5inch sata 750gb drive in a hard drive caddy.

The first time I tried, it said that the drive needed formatting half way through, so the transfer stopped. But then when i looked in disk management it all looked fine and didnt need formatting. I then reformatted it and checked the disk for errors and nothing came up, it all seems fine. I tried again and it said it could not copy some files as they might be corrupt or somthing like that, and then it stopped and nothing had copied over.

Do you think this could be to do with my cheap hard drive caddy?

Im just hoping its not the hard drive. Its a 7200rpm WD scorpio

Thanks

Take a look in event viewer. You will probably see a lot of i/o error from the disk. Cheap caddys tend to have connection problems. Sometimes cleaning the plug helps for a while.
