PC Starts then nothing - help

This is for my mother in laws Acer Aspire X1301. When you push the power button the lights come on, and the CPU fan fires up, but nothing else happens...no display, no beeps, ALL ports (usb, sound, video, etc...) dont work.

I suspect seeing as it does power up at least that its the mobo and not the power supply. Never had this happen before so I'm just hoping to confirm before I order parts.

Hi, try starting the board with only CPU and CPU fan installed. If there's a case speaker / buzzer connected, you should get the error beeps signaling no RAMs installed.
if no beeps, then it's either a board or a CPU issue. Or both.

Well I did as you said and it continuously beeped and I had to unplug it. After that I re-installed everything and left in one ram stick. It booted fine and finished the windows update. After that I swapped the sticks to see if there was an issue and it was fine. Then I put both back in, and wouldn't ya know, it was fine...

I guess we'll see if it stays that way. Thanks!
