Hi all. I am having an issue with my Windows 8 x64 OS and my Ati 5870 graphics card. When I play any game, I get black lines around the border of the screen. I have a 24" monitor that is in 1920x1080. I have tried to adjust scaling in the CCC but it only makes things worse. This issue only shows up in Windows 8. When I boot into Windows 7 x64, there is no black border and my games run at 920x1080. Any ideas on how to fix this issue with Windows 8?

Hi Funguseater,

Thank you for the reply. I have tried to change my settings but only have a full or Fit option. I have tried both fit and full but same results. Windows 8 OS displays full screen, it only when I launch a game does the black bars appear. I have updated my ATi drivers to the latest version (13-4_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql). Weird thing is when booted into Windows 7, there is no issues when launching a game. Any other ideas?

Hi Unksol,
I have attempted to enable scaling but my screen goes all yellow when launching a game. Do you have any specific instructions I can try to adjust? Do I try to adjust when the game is running in the background?

Update

I read on another forum to run my games in Windows 7 compatibility mode. All my games that I am playing this time are in Steam. I created a shortcut to each of my game.exe and changed them to Windows 7 compatibility mode.

portal 2 runs at 1920x1080 full screen. :)
Far Cry 3 runs at 1920x1080 with black bars
COD runs at 1920x1080 with black bars
Any ideas on what I can try next? I even have steam running in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
