I'm looking to upgrade my current system, but I'm looking for advice on the direction I should head. Obviously I'm in dire need of a GPU upgrade, but thinking RAM could use a boost too. Any advice is appreciated.

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-X48-DS4
CPU: E8500 3.16
RAM: 4GB Mushkin Blackline PC2 6400
GPU: Crossfired 512 4870s
Power: 750W Corsair TX Series

Thanks.

What do you do with your system ?
What does it not do to your liking ?
Whats your budget for upgrades ?

I agree, the E8500 will really hold you back
for probably $350-500 you could pick up a IB i5 (or i3 if budget is smaller), a decent mobo, and 8-16gb ram
that would probably be your best bet for upgrade, then later, when you have the money, upgrade graphics
(I am assuming you are using this for gaming only. If you do cad or photo/video editing you might want to consider an IB i7)

Mostly game. I don't aspire for max settings, but I'd like to have DX11 capabilities and play at relatively high settings. I'm really just aiming to extend the life of the build for another year or two. I'm hoping to spend just a couple hundred USD, otherwise I'd just be spending the $$$ for a completely new build.

You probably should spend the money for a completely new build.

There's not a single GPU for around $200 that would give me what I'm looking for?
