intel hd graphics 4000 for gaming

What kind of games can intel hd graphics 4000 run? I'm getting a new laptop and most laptops seem to have this card, especially those in my budget (~1000-1500$). I'm not a gamer so I don't really know anything about graphic cards but I want to start playing some games, so I would like to know. Games like Far Cry 3 seem to be quite high-end in terms of graphics, although I've never played it. Or portal 2, or Arma 3 etc. I don't know a lot of games, but these seem to be the popular ones. Can it run these? What others can it run? Also, do you know if there are other good laptops in my price range that has better graphics? Thanks everyone.

The desktop version of the HD4000 can run most newer demanding games at absolute lowest settings and a very low resolution with a decent FPS, I'm not sure if the laptop version is any different, but for $1500 you can get a laptop with a much better GPU than that

HD4000 and gaming SHOULD NOT BE used in the same sentence.

HD4000 compares with the ancient 7600gt. If you play titles like Battlefield 3, Crysis 3, Metro 2033, hell any modern game including the ones you mentioned, HD4000 will not run it.

One more thing HD4000 is integrated graphics that resides on the CPU and has no VRAM.

if you do the grAPHICS LOW TO MEDIUM YOU MUS GET AROUND 30 FPS WHATS ENUGH FOR GAMING

If you play them at absolute lowest resolution and are still happy with frame drops, then sure.

Actually, i have this card, at first i was pretty scared, as after i bought it i heard the card reviews, But so far, i have been playing almost all the new games, Infinity,metro,fc3, prototype 2 and many others, and i have had them on a mix of high and low settings, low being stuff i dont really need, like great shadows. I have no fps problems and no game so far was not able to work. It aint the best, but for a low budget and casual gaming, i see no problems, and also, i played crysis 3 on it with low to medium perfectly, no fps issues. I got a laptop with 8gb of ram.

Ok sooooo, I disagree with you guys, I have an I7 laptop with a 17.3" screen and I play ALL the new games on almost max performance with no glitches. BUT!!!!! I have 16GB of memory. if you are going to fool around with the INTEL HD range don't even bother with trying below the 8 gig mark it SUCKS memory.

Two points here: 1) the newest i7's have an HD 4600, which is faster than the HD 4000. 2) you never mentioned the FPS you get. Just about any game can be played at max settings on any DX11 capable card, but 1-25 FPS are generally considered unplayable. Even 30 FPS isn't generally considered playable these days.

I have an intel HD 3000 and i can run most games on low, medium or some on high
for ex. i run bo 2 on medium and farcry 3 on low. So i think you shouldnt have problems with any game..
just update your drivers

Hello,

I have a asus k55a-sx535h and i have a intel core i5, intel hd graphics 4000 and 4 gig of ram. gaming on my laptop works pretty good. i'm running: minecraft 1.6.4, mass effect 3, call of duty modern warfare 3, gta san andreas, farming simulator 2013, modern warfare first version demo and crysis 3 (not tested yet). I have no lagg on the standard settings of the all those games. I have windows 8.1 on it

ha ha ha, its a decent graphics card bell end, it runs all of the above games on 'high' settings with no problems at all.
