,eml file converts to acrobat

when some e-mail (.eml) messages are stored on desktop or in 'my documents' they convert to Adobe Reader file type and then says Acrobat cannot open it. This occurs from some incoming gmail accounts. I am using Windows Live Mail. They open fine in my mail account, it is only a problem when I try to save them elsewhere on computer.

I very much doubt the files convert to acrobat type though the eml files ICON may wrongly show Acrobat icon

You need to re set default program which reads eml files

Start /Control Panel /Folder Options/ File Types tab (for windows XP)

for Win 7 see

Thank you for your response. The default Association for .eml files is set to open with Windows Live Mail. The file type: Windows Live Mail (._eml) opens with: Adobe Reader 9.5. I do not see a ._eml file type to associate it with in default programs.
