good question

have seen new psus saying haswell compatible

but nothing about whether you can use a psu you already have

other than something about when haswell is in a low power state older psus may have an issue with it

Well I'm thinking that I need the Haswell ready one but I'm on a tight budget and I was just wondering if I could keep £79.99 and just use my XFX 550w Core that I already have installed.

i wouldnt buy a new psu

even if your psu cant handle the low power state with haswell

just go in the bios and disable the C6 and C7 power states

I never really took any time to think about that thanks, I'm going to eventually change my PSU as I would like to get myself a 780 at the end of the year or next year. But thanks for the help you just saved me £79.99!
