Hi everyone,
My brother was watching a video from his external drive, then he unplugged it from his pc (he doesnt remenber if he safely removed it) and then plugged it in a Mac to copy some files.
The Mac said it couldnt read the drive so it had to be initialized, he initialized it without formatting so he wouldnt lose the data.
Now the drive doesnt work on Windows 7, it is recognized in disk manager but it doesnt show in Windows explorer. It doesnt work on Mac either.
The disk manager shows 2 partitions an EFI System Partition and a Primary Partition, but it says they're empty (100% free space) and there's no drive letter asiggned and no File System.
The disk manager doesnt let me format the partitions, all options are greyed out, the only option available is to delete the partitions.
What can I do to recover the file system without loosing any data? If I have to delete those partitions and create new ones, what files recovery tools would you suggest I use to recover all the data inside the disk?

This is the hdd model: ST1000LM024 HN-M101MBB
It is a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex USB device.

Thanks in advance, I hope you can help me.

I found in another forum about a disk utility called testdisk that is used to recover lost partitions and files. I ran it all night and it recognized the ntfs partition and asked me to write, after I confirmed the write operation it told me the boot sector was bad so I chosed the option "Copy backup sector". After that it told me to rebbot my computer and I did. Now the disk is recognized by the Windows Explorer but I cant access the data, in Disk Manager the file system in the disk says RAW and the option to format the disk is now available. What can I do? Do I format the disk and try a recovery utility to recover the files? What program do you recomend?

actually, i was able to recover all the data using the program GetDataBack without reformatting the drive, Now I,m going to format the drive to NTFS and test it for a while to see if it is okay, Im using Hard Disk Sentinel Pro to monitor the drive and the health is 100%
