can my external hard drive be repaired?

my 1tb Verbatim external hard drive fell on the floor and now makes a wirring noise and won't connect to my lap top. Is it repairable do you think?

Probably toast.
If you can, take it out of the external case and install it internally (assuming you or a friend has a desktop available).

It may work, it may continue to do what it is doing.
