Depends if your PSU has enough Amperage on the 12v rail. What PSU do you have?

i7-2600
10 GB kingston ram

Originally I had a GTX 570, but i just got an Asus 7970 DirectCU 2 for under $100 dollar. The problem is that it requiers 2 8pins. My PSU only has a 6+2 and a 6.

Then you can convert it. That PSU is decent and has enough amps on the 12v rail to support an HD7970.

The GTX570 actually uses MORE power than the HD7970.

So you think the 2 molex to 8pin is OK?

Why is it not 'ideal'? What's wrong with it?

Due to the fact that some people adapt super low amperage PSUs and then blow them up in the process, yours is fine though.
