Hi everyone, I realize this may be the stupidest questions you have ever been asked but I honestly don't know. I just got all the parts for my build and was thinking about the best way to cool the system, so naturally I thought of intake/exhaust fans and decided to look up some case fans (I'm using stock cooler for now).
I know that the fan has to be either exhaust or intake. My questions is how to make a fan into an intake fan? The only thing that makes sense to me is to turn the fan around so instead of blowing air out, it blows air in. I am confused about this because most fans have a protective shield in front of the fan, but only on one side which if placed against the case would make it an exhaust fan.
Sorry for the long post, my question is basically, how do I make a fan an intake fan?

Thank you guys for the quick reply. I thought that I was supposed to just flip the fans around, but when I did, it didn't look right. I am helping my friend build his own computer and he has the Corsair AF series fans, but when they are flipped around they don't look right, or is that just how it is?

maybe they dont look right because of the coloured ring thats on one side

Ya, I plan on just removing the colored ring, and taking apart the fan to color the blades. I think the fan would look nice then. Thanks for tall the help.
