So my gaming is few years old now and i would like to upgrade it so i can run ALL new games in 1920 x 1080 resolution on high graphics at least if not ultra for a few years. Games like Metro Last Light, Skyrim modded to kingdom comes, WoW on ultra and so on.
My budget so far is around 1270$/990 euro, could go up as high as 1450$/ 1130 euros if performance increase is huge. Preferably as cheap as possible not, damaging performance, with that i mean if some video card for example is extremely expensive and only gives few % increase in performance over one that is moderately expensive i would wanna go with moderately expensive one. Also don't think i need new hdds or rams or psu but might be mistaken.

Current setup:
Video card - ASUS ENGTX460 1GB DDR5 video memory
Motherboard - ASUS P6T DELUXE V2, Intel X58 Express Chipset/ ICHIOR
PSU - CORSAIR TX950W
RAM - ADATA, DDR3 1600G 4x2GB sticks, says gaming series for what its worth...
CPU - Intel Core i7-920, Freq 2.66 GHz, Quad Core, L3 Cache 8MB
Monitor resolution - 1920 x 1080 HD
OS - Win7 64bit, can change to 32bit
HDD - Seagate 2TB SATAIII 5900rpm 64MB barracuda LP series and another 2 hdd, one 1tb one 2tb cant really take them out now while typing.

Would like upgrades that does not cause some choke point that decrease overall performance of course.

On little bit off off-topic i have some problems with one of my HDD's system is freezing like once or twice a day sometimes when launching movies/ sometimes when gaming usually when playing wow, haven't noticed freeze with other games. Freeze happens for a few seconds and i can clearly hear spin up like sound from one of my hdds, what could cause this ?

Solution
The only thing I would upgrade would be the graphics card. I would get a 7970 if you are willing to do AMD or the new GTX 780 if you are sticking with NVidia.

I would also add an SSD for overall speed and performance of the whole system. The Samsung PRO 840's are popular.

+1. You might also consider a new CPU and mobo, but your present setup should be fine until the next processor generation.

Edit: You might bottleneck the 780, however. Honestly, the 7970 is still the most efficient high-end card, so I would advocate going with that.
