680 SLI, FPS is low and jumping from high to low

Today i picked up a second gtx 680 ftw. I plugged it in, enabled sli and set up surround, opened up EVGA Precision X to make sure the clocks were at the same speed, and then i opened Bf3. My fps was at 5-8, then jumped up to 200, then it jumped back down, and kept repeating this. SLI is enabled in Nvidia control panel, my computer recognizes there are two 680's in there, but the FPS is being weird. When i monitor what is happening in EVGA precision X, the cards clock speed jumps up and down from 1254 to 345, and keeps on doing this. Has anyone ever heard of this and know of a solution or have any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks for any help in advanced!

Are you running an active OC on your cards? If so, this can happen. Try underclocking to stock speeds and playing again. Also do you have a powerful enough PSU to run both cards properly?

I think you should maybe start googling this. I have seen other people have some problems with SLI on some games. there may be a specific thing you need to edit for BF3 SLI. I will look around for you and tell you if I find any solutions.

this should help:

So basically: you should try getting a hard card bridge instead of a flew bridge. Seems to have helped him.

EDIT: Flex* not flew. Lol sorry. The flex bridge is also called "flimsy" too, idk... I think it should help out alot though if you switched to a hard bridge. Just an idea.

I've been looking and i have not found a problem like mine but i have a feeling that this is something with the overclock on the 1st card and it is messing up the second card or something like that.

I found a solution, it was with the OC. I reset the OC, turned sync off and re-did the overclock manually on each card, and it worked like a dream. Ran bf3 at 60 fps constant and i more than DOUBLED my score on heaven benchmark 4.0 with this 2nd 680:D

You can set this up for any program...
