Ok guys, I built a gaming rig less than a year ago and until just the other day, things were running just fine. First off, I was using a small hdmi tv as a monitor and I turned it on one day and It just wouldn't turn on. So day after that, I started using a crappy old dell monitor. So when I turned on my comp I kept getting 5 mobo beeps. I was like "whatever" because the thing still worked fine. Then while gaming, the screen was going black for like 2 seconds just randomly. So I restarted it, then my mobo splash screen didn't appear along with the hit f2 for boot options etc. so now I'm like wth.... THEN I got the idea to reset my CMOS by removing the battery from my mobo. After putting that back in, the screen won't turn on at all. The HD spins up and everything sounds fine but still just black screen.
If someone could help me out a lil here that would be awesome. Or maybe even give some instructions on how to narrow down any hardware issues.
These are my specs:
Amd fx-4100 zambiez quad core 3.60 Ghz

Rosewill Capstone 650w PSU

250gb WD HDD 16Mb cache 7200rpm

1tb WD HDD
64mb cach
7200 rpm

ASRock 970 Extreme3 AM3+ mobo

Ripjaws 2x4gb ram

Thanks for any advice!

Without knowing what motherboard you have I can only guess. When you reset your CMOS you probably set the onboard graphics as default. Try plugging your monitor the port on your motherboard and changing that setting back in the BIOS. As far as the 2 second black screen is concerned, you most likely are using an older dvi to hdmi or dvi to dvi or hdmi to hdmi. My brother had this problem with a dvi to hdmi and we resolved it by getting a new cable. hdmi I believe has 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.4 versions and there may be others. Some are not compatible with newer TV's and monitors.
