I was playing skyrim with my gpu factory overclocked hd 6850 and phenom 2 x2 965 processor while monitoring my temps I suddenly noticed it increasing eventually the entire system shut down when it hit 76 degrees C. After it shut down i noticed a burning smell I opened my pc and felt around the gpu and motherboard were both hot but I didnt notice any signs of damage on any of my hardware. I tried multiple fixes including unplugging all but the necessary components and nothing worked my pc wouldnt turn back on. I have a 480 w psu but I dont know if its psu failure or mobo failure because when I plugged the motherboard power connector in there was a small green light that reamained turned on. Does anyone have any advice, do I need a new psu or motherboard or both? My motherboard is a m3a78-em with am3 compatability, everything was running fine until today.
