I'm looking to replace the damaged 15.6in (LED backlit, Glossy) LCD panel on an Acer 5738 laptop. But when I search online, I'm getting more results for Acer 5738z/g/3D replacement screens.

What I want to know is, can I buy a 5738z screen, and successfully install it in the 5738? The dimensions are the same.

What're the differences between an Acer 5738 and an Acer 5738z anyway? I couldn't find any obvious ones in their specifications.

If dimensions and connections are the same, sure.

Are you talking about the 40pin vs 30pin thing?
Sorry, I'm not really familiar with this; I don't normally dabble with laptops.

Also, continuing in that vein, does it mean that ANY LCD screen, no matter what the company, will be compatible with ANY laptop, as long as the "dimensions and connections" are the same?

Take your old screen out and look at the make and model number on the back.

The laptop isn't with me presently, and I doubt I will be able to get to it for a few days. I was hoping I could order a screen and have it delivered by the time I'll be able to actually physically do anything.
Is this an absolutely vital step?
What is the objective of doing this?
If/when I did do it, what would I be looking for, exactly?

Also, I would imagine the model number inside the laptop would be the same as the model number outside.
I'm quite probably wrong, of course. Do laptop screens have their own model numbers, independent of which brand's laptop they're being used in?

Hi, if you ask someone who is with the laptop to turn it over and check what the model number of the laptop is, 5738z came in two types, they will be a white sticker with more number and letters after the 5738z, you cannot just guess buddy. Really you need to get the screen out and get the model number then contact me and I will have my supplier one send to you.
